The return of retro is here at Lattouf...with the Great Gatsby lighting up the silver  screen, many of this year's hair, fashion and beauty trends relate to the roaring twenties, many celebrities such as Tyra Banks and Katy Perry and fashion parades are sporting the elegance and glamour of this era; also looks seen on the catwalks of fashion heavy weights Louis Vuitton, Anna Sui and Chanel and gracing the covers of top fashion magazines across the globe.

This world wide trend is influencing a new generation to the world of the finger-waved bobs and bouffant curls. Which means it is a great time to try romantic pin curls, finger waves and romantic up styles for your next event.

These looks work best on mid-length locks.

Gatsby inspires Men

The dapper style of the roaring twenties has returned, with a little help from Baz Luhrmann's The Great Gatsby, and it seems men can be just as inspired as women.
Since Leonardo DiCaprio appeared in the character of Jay Gatsby showcasing an ultra-styled, slicked back hair style epitomising the polished 1920s style. This has seen the sales of men’s hair pomade, wax and gel soar.

For best results we recommend KEVIN.MURPHY STICKY BUSINESS

Retro Glamour

This gorgeous chestnut brown single process colour captures the wonder of winter beauty trends. The long-length cut with minimal layering is a great example of the glamour of voluminous tresses, created with a blow-dry or hot roller set. Reminiscent of the 1920s, with a creative modern twist, it works day or night.

Step: On wet hair, apply Kevin.Murphy.Stickey.Business and a pump of Kevin.Murphy Young.Again and apply from roots to ends.

Step: If setting by blow-dry, use large round brush to wrap sections into rolls and pin in place. Alternatively, use hot rollers or a set in salon.

Step: Once set is dry, use your blow-dryer to apply some cool air. This strengthens the set.

Step: Release pins or unwind rollers. Brush out the set using flat brush. Focus on creating waves with smoothness.

Step: Finish and smooth with a touch of Kevin Murphy Shimmer Shine for a reflective shine on hair and Session Spray for extra hold and structure. Create a romantic flowing shape. Use pins if you need to fix hair away from the face.
