Lordy, Lorde Is A Pop Princess

Lordy, Lorde Is A Pop Princess

The first New Zealander to reach number one on the Billboard Hot 100, Lorde became pop royalty in 2013. Appropriately, The Wild Magazine dressed her in a regal crown for an editorial featured in their Youth Issue. Actually, what we love is the combination of hair textures; from straight at the crown, her style tumbles into a mass of terrific beach waves that surround her unusual and striking features.

The Perfect Red Lip

With Christmas just around the corner, what better way to get into this festive season than with the colours of Christmas. Red, a colour that is striking, represents power, stands out and is very sexy! And no better way to show it then on your lips on Christmas Day. With the weight gain from all the feasts shared with family and friends, to running after kids, that last thing you need is a faded or smudged lipstick. To avoid your lipstick fading and creating a defined shape, match your lipstick colour to a red lip liner. line your lips with the lip liner, and then colour in the rest of your lips. This will act as a base to your lipstick and will allow it to stick to the lipstick for longer. Go over this with the red lipstick of your choice.

Here we take a trip down memory lane to the celebrities that have had the best red lips on the red carpet.

Men’s Cuts: Toughly Tousled

Men’s Cuts: Toughly Tousled

For men, styling can be a challenge, especially if their strands fall somewhere between straight and curly. Slick, dapper looks are great for a night on the town, but men should have a casual option too, one that works with their texture. The prohibition era styles of the last few season can be hard to wear natural, especially with wavy textures. The cuts shown here offer a stylish alternative. They have enough length and weight to encourage movement with tapered edges that keep things neat.

Step 1: Ask your stylist for a classic graduated haircut with length at the front. And don’t even think about going to a barber; for this cut to look its best it needs to be customized for your specific texture and growth pattern, something that only an expert stylist can do.

Step 2: At home, shampoo and condition with a gentle hydrating shampoo we recommend Pure Lattouf Hydrate my hair sulphate free shampoo.

Step 3: After showering, towel dry hair very well. Mix together a nickel each of KEVIN.MURPHY NIGHT.RIDER and KEVIN MURPHY UN.DRESSED. Run through strands, starting at the crown and working out to prevent clumping at the front hairline. Part if desired and tousle into place.

Amanda Seyfried's Glamour Waves

For The Holidays, Create Amanda Seyfried’s Take On Veronica Lake’s Wave

Holiday hairstyles are front and center of attention right now; every women and girl is searching for an attention-grabbing, beautifying look. If you wear your hair long, Amanda Seyfried’s modern take on a vintage Hollywood wave could be just the ticket. Reminiscent of the tumbling, peek-a-boo style of 1940s icon, Veronica Lake, the romantic shape is perfect for fancy occasions. To create this look, the important thing is to develop a consistent wave pattern. With a curling iron and product, you can be done in 30 minutes. Read on for detailed step by step instruction…

Step 1: Make a deep side-part and mist whole head liberally with KEVIN.MURPHY FULL AGAIN thickening lotion and Kerastase Forme fatal. A heavy side part enables an asymmetrical face-frame, perfect for putting features on show.

Step 2: Now curl entire head using a 1-to-2 inch barreled curling iron. Get hair as hot as you can without burning. A good tip (to avoid too much heat while getting a great set) is to unravel and do it again –– twice baked! After each curl is made, use a pin-curl clip to pin in place.

Step 3: Mist hair with KEVIN.MURPHY SESSION.SPRAY for hold, shine and texture, and allow hair to cool.

Step 4: Once cool, use the fine teeth of a comb to gently comb out curls. Keep combing till the perfect vintage wave pattern emerges.

Step 5: Tuck the short side of the part behind ear and use a holiday-inspired, sparkly hair clip accessory to hold in place.

How to get Jennifer Lawrence's Summer Waves

With the summer season here, Jennifer Lawrence has the perfect hair length and style, suitable for the upcoming summer days. To mirror the length of her hair, hair length should sit a little under shoulder length so when styled, curls sit shoulder length. Ask your hair stylist to put some layers throughout the hair to achieve a summer look with volume and a non perfect style. To style, shampoo hair with Kevin Murphy BALANCING.WASH to enrich hair with anti oxidants and give the hair a fresh look. Before styling, apply Kevin Murphy's BODY.GUARD to damp hair to smooth dry ends and protects the hair from mechanical damage.  Style hair with thin iron by taking small sections and wrapping hair once around thong and slide through with hand at an angle. This will allow for a wave affect. Continue this throughout all sections. The various layers throughout the hair will allow for different length of curls allowing for a volumising effect. Finish styling by lightly spraying Kevin Murphy's SESSION.SPRAY to give the hair a weightless, lasting hold.

Princess Kate Middleton's Signature Waves

Princess Kate Middleton always seems to have effortlessly perfect looking hair no matter the occasion. A child at home and her demanding role as the Duchess of Cambridge, clearly has not taken on a toll on the princess' hair. Her long brown locks always fall to either side of her face with bounce and volume.

To achieve Kate's look use Kevin Murphy's MOTION.LOTION on damp hair as it enhances the curl and maintains frizz without a heavy feel. Style with a curling iron, using medium sized sections in order to avoid tight curls and in turn achieving the loose wave affect. Finish off by using Kevin Murphy's ANTI.GRAVITY.SPRAY to add weightless volume and reinforce shine. and for an extra hold, spritz Kevin Murphy's SESSION.SPRAY.

Braids are the new trend!

A how to on achieving this effortless yet fun look

Back in the day, braids used to be the hairstyle we used to get when we were running late to school and needed a quick style that was easy and neat. But now, braids are worn by celebrities for any occasion. Whether it be out to dinner or on the red carpet. Achieving these looks is quite simple.

1. To achieve these looks, use Kevin Murphy Young again while hair is wet, before styling, to ensure hair is protected and shiny.

2. Blow dry hair using a round brush for added volume.

3. After blow drying, you could apply a small about of Kevin Murphy Young Again to further smooth the hair and maintain any fly aways.

4. If you want to achieve the slick look like the beautiful Jordan Sparks, spray Kevin Murphy session spray to achieve a strong pull back hold with a braid on the end.

Celebrity Movember

And the finalists are...

A topic of hair we love to discuss when it relates to these celebrity icons. Movember! The month where it challenges men to grow a moustache for the 30-days of November, thereby changing their appearance and the face of men’s health. What better way to raise awareness than our walking billboards of gorgeous hunks, participating in raising awareness for a great cause. These celebs do a great job at participating in this awareness campaign by adding a touch of style with a great deal of manliness. Well done our Mo Bros!

Kelly Osbourne at the American Music Awards

We Love!!

The American Music Awards seem to always carry the most unique hair styles, and Kelly Osbourne did just that. Walking the red carpet with her purple bangs hanging just above her beautifully shaped eyebrows, Osbourne had the rest of her hair pulled back into a large braid, outlined with gold studs. We love this look!  A feminine style from the front, turned into a twisted punk look from the sides and back. The different shades of purple in her hair are softened by the natural make up she carried on the night. If anyone can carry this looks, its the lady herself!

Jessie J is Back to her Dark Side!

Back to Black

Jessie J is one celebrity that seems to be able to carry any hair style! In March, she went from having long dark locks straight to the extreme of shaving it all off, then dying it blonde. But of course, this gorgeous singer rocked her new style and it then became her signature look. And the world loved it! But, from her instagram, Jessie J obviously needed a change and went back to her dark hair. Although this beauty clearly has no bad hair days, we prefer her striking blonde hair!

Bangs are Back!

A striking yet sophisticated look

It's official! Bangs are back and making a statement that we know only hair can do. This new trend can suit any style you carry. Whether is be straight, curly or wavy hair. A bold fringe such as the bang can be worn with loose hair or tied up like the beautiful Michele Lea has done. We love the way her bangs fall to eyelash level and bring out those cat shaped brown eyes. A style like this needs a trim every few weeks, but this look proves to be so worth the upkeep. To achieve such a bold fringe, ask your hair stylist to cut the fringe while your hair is dry. Doing this allows for you to be able to see how your hair falls when you'll need to do it alone at home. To keep your fringe looking fresh with a shine everyday, wash your fringe when you wash your hair each morning. This allows for you to have a bold looking bang everyday, without having to wash your hair.

Jennifer Lawrence Girl on Fire with New Pixie Crop

A Closer Look at the Jennifer Lawrence Pixie Cut

Jennifer Lawrence's pixie-cut is a variation to traditional cropped cuts tightly tapered nape through the back, and an asymmetrical, short to long feel through the top and sides. But it’s the piece-y separation of texture that gives this style the modern, perfectly imperfect balance. She’s such a looker, and the cut exposes features like strong, high cheekbones, wide mouth, and unique eyes, which is always a good way to approach your beauty look. So while we’ll miss the flowing tousled locks that gave Jennifer a wow-factor, we can’t deny that we are loving this crop with a boyish twist.

Step 1: For a similar shape to Jennifer ask for a tightly tapered, graduated nape with length left on top. Get your stylist to create an asymmetrical, short to long feel. Razor-cutting will enhance a loose, imperfect texture.

Step 2: Cocktail Kerastase Short Mania  and Kevin Murphy Undressed to get hold and volume with a messy undone finish. Work through damp hair from roots to ends and blast dry with a blow-dryer, using hands to create movement and texture in the hair.

Step 3: Finish with a light layer of Kerastase Powder Bluff to enhance volume and slept in grit.

Step 4: For more durability spray lightly with Kevin Murphy Session Spray.

The Punk Movement Continues...

Image 8-18-13 at 11.59 AM
The popularity of DIY owes a lot to the early punk movement. While nowadays the term punk is applied to teens with mohawks and safety-pin embellished ensembles, the original movement created a new aesthetic that moved against mainstream ideas about fashion, spawning a look that defied style norms. Androgynous haircuts, chalking, tousled styling, and disconnection are great ways to integrate punk into your style.
Step: Asymmetric cuts have an imperfect, DIY quality that adds edge to any style. For the most dramatic version, play around with extreme length contrasts, like pairing long hair with micro bangs or super short sides with a long, mohawk-inspired top. Keep edges piecey for a lived-in feeling. The new hybrid pixie bob is a perfect example of a modern take on this look.
Step: High contrast blocks of color create a bold, gritty feeling. Ask your Lattouf colorist to create a placement that enhances your overall shape or embrace DIY and use hair chalk to create temporary color effects at home. Our fav is KEVIN.MURPHY COLOUR.BUG NEON
Step: Use low sheen, texture enhancing products to get a grungy finish. KERASTASE POWDER BLUFF dry shampoo is great for holding high volume styles and creating a matte finish. KERASTASE SHORT MANIA will give detailed separation and mussed up appeal to short styles and the NEW KERASTASE LAQUE DENTELLE will give flexible hold and grit to gravity defying shape.

The Eclectic Style of Kate Moss

True style lies in the successful breaking of fashion’s rules. A versatile dresser, Kate Moss epitomizes this thought; she navigates a chameleon world by using her senses as a guide. Despite reinventing herself into every epoch, from classic to vintage to bohemian to rock and roll she is always, irrefutably, Kate Moss. And as one of the two biggest trends of spring and summer is the nineties aesthetic (the other is the 1960s) that Miss Moss owned, we felt it the perfect time to look at the hairstyles of fashion’s ultimate IT girl. She’s donned so many looks during her career, including pixie-cuts, blunt bangs, and tousled waves. It makes it hard to define her best-ever image, which, perhaps, is why the world is obsessed. To see how Kate has worn her crowning glory over the years see below.
