The perfect bob-pixie hybrid in 3 steps

Image 7-28-13 at 4.04 PM

It’s almost spring; and summer is just around the corner. Of course, we still have a few weeks of winter left to enjoy, but if you want a new shape for spring & summer, it’s a great time to start collecting inspiration. Whether you went short for the summer or are contemplating a chic crop this bob-pixie hybrid is the perfect choice. Length up top with short sides and back is a great transition shape whether you’re going longer or shorter. A rich caramel base with lighter lengths around the face gives  a softer summer blonde.

Step 1: The sides of the cut should be kept under three inches to prevent bulkiness. A square layering technique will give leanness to the shape for a face-slimming effect. The top length can look great anywhere from cheekbone to chin, but keeping it below the corner of the mouth will allow you to cover the sides when desired for an instant bob shape that conceals the undercut.

Step 2: Kerastase Short Mania will give the shape malleable control, apply liberally when hair is damp and either air dry or gently tousle with fingers. Part deeply as shown to highlight the disconnection or part in the center for a more blended effect.

Step 3: Polish the ends and add separation with a spritz of  Kerastase spray a porter pulled through the tips and smoothed over the sides.

How to get your Vintage Faux Bob

Vintage Faux Bob

In the 1920s, when bobs first came into style, the cut was associated with the controversial flapper movement. Still wanting to be fashionable, less daring ladies wore their hair waved and pinned into head hugging shapes. Today, we know bobs are here to stay, but if you want the look without the commitment, this coif is a beautiful way to fake a shorter style. Get your own flapper inspired look in a few easy steps….
Step: Mist hair with KMS FREE SHAPE Hot Flex Spray for a longer lasting style and thermal protection. Curl in large sections using a mid-sized curling iron. Allow hair to cool and brush through gently to create soft waves.
Step: At the nape, pin hair flat with a row of crisscrossed bobby pins leaving the front sections loose. Wrap the ends up and over creating a small roll and secure into the row of pins.
Step: Sculpt the hair around the temples into defined waves and pin to hold in place. Spray with KMS HAIR STAY Medium Hold Hair Spray to hold and finish.

J.Lo's Texured High Ponytail

 J. Lo's Textured High Ponytail

We love the versatility of Jennifer Lopez’s locks. Long, thick, and caramel-colored, J. Lo’s hair looks gorgeous when left loose in soft curls, but she can also rock a fierce updo. She recently rocked this messy, textured ponytail, exuding a sexy summer vibe. Dry shampoo is key when creating a similar look, because it adds the perfect amount of texture.

Step: Pulse KMS Hair Play Dry Touh Up through dry hair. Scrunch and tousle hair for body and texture.
Step: Loosely curl hair by wrapping random strands of hair around a curling iron.
Step: Pull hair up into a high ponytail at the crown of the head. Secure with an elastic.
Step: Pull out a small strand of hair from the ponytail and wrap it around the base of the ponytail to cover the elastic. Pin in place.
Step: Reapply KMS Hair Play Dry Touh Up for extra volume and texture.

Melbourne Cup Fashion Show

Yes it seems a bit early for Melbourne Cup but it's just around the corner...

The team @ Lattouf Hair & Day Spa styled the models for a Melbourne Cup runway parade at Westfield Kotara.

As the photo show the contrast of block bold colours are still very much in vouge or for those of you a little less daring the classic nudes and whites are a no brainer.
