Lordy, Lorde Is A Pop Princess

Lordy, Lorde Is A Pop Princess

The first New Zealander to reach number one on the Billboard Hot 100, Lorde became pop royalty in 2013. Appropriately, The Wild Magazine dressed her in a regal crown for an editorial featured in their Youth Issue. Actually, what we love is the combination of hair textures; from straight at the crown, her style tumbles into a mass of terrific beach waves that surround her unusual and striking features.

Men’s Cuts: Toughly Tousled

Men’s Cuts: Toughly Tousled

For men, styling can be a challenge, especially if their strands fall somewhere between straight and curly. Slick, dapper looks are great for a night on the town, but men should have a casual option too, one that works with their texture. The prohibition era styles of the last few season can be hard to wear natural, especially with wavy textures. The cuts shown here offer a stylish alternative. They have enough length and weight to encourage movement with tapered edges that keep things neat.

Step 1: Ask your stylist for a classic graduated haircut with length at the front. And don’t even think about going to a barber; for this cut to look its best it needs to be customized for your specific texture and growth pattern, something that only an expert stylist can do.

Step 2: At home, shampoo and condition with a gentle hydrating shampoo we recommend Pure Lattouf Hydrate my hair sulphate free shampoo.

Step 3: After showering, towel dry hair very well. Mix together a nickel each of KEVIN.MURPHY NIGHT.RIDER and KEVIN MURPHY UN.DRESSED. Run through strands, starting at the crown and working out to prevent clumping at the front hairline. Part if desired and tousle into place.

Amanda Seyfried's Glamour Waves

For The Holidays, Create Amanda Seyfried’s Take On Veronica Lake’s Wave

Holiday hairstyles are front and center of attention right now; every women and girl is searching for an attention-grabbing, beautifying look. If you wear your hair long, Amanda Seyfried’s modern take on a vintage Hollywood wave could be just the ticket. Reminiscent of the tumbling, peek-a-boo style of 1940s icon, Veronica Lake, the romantic shape is perfect for fancy occasions. To create this look, the important thing is to develop a consistent wave pattern. With a curling iron and product, you can be done in 30 minutes. Read on for detailed step by step instruction…

Step 1: Make a deep side-part and mist whole head liberally with KEVIN.MURPHY FULL AGAIN thickening lotion and Kerastase Forme fatal. A heavy side part enables an asymmetrical face-frame, perfect for putting features on show.

Step 2: Now curl entire head using a 1-to-2 inch barreled curling iron. Get hair as hot as you can without burning. A good tip (to avoid too much heat while getting a great set) is to unravel and do it again –– twice baked! After each curl is made, use a pin-curl clip to pin in place.

Step 3: Mist hair with KEVIN.MURPHY SESSION.SPRAY for hold, shine and texture, and allow hair to cool.

Step 4: Once cool, use the fine teeth of a comb to gently comb out curls. Keep combing till the perfect vintage wave pattern emerges.

Step 5: Tuck the short side of the part behind ear and use a holiday-inspired, sparkly hair clip accessory to hold in place.

Jennifer Lawrence Girl on Fire with New Pixie Crop

A Closer Look at the Jennifer Lawrence Pixie Cut

Jennifer Lawrence's pixie-cut is a variation to traditional cropped cuts tightly tapered nape through the back, and an asymmetrical, short to long feel through the top and sides. But it’s the piece-y separation of texture that gives this style the modern, perfectly imperfect balance. She’s such a looker, and the cut exposes features like strong, high cheekbones, wide mouth, and unique eyes, which is always a good way to approach your beauty look. So while we’ll miss the flowing tousled locks that gave Jennifer a wow-factor, we can’t deny that we are loving this crop with a boyish twist.

Step 1: For a similar shape to Jennifer ask for a tightly tapered, graduated nape with length left on top. Get your stylist to create an asymmetrical, short to long feel. Razor-cutting will enhance a loose, imperfect texture.

Step 2: Cocktail Kerastase Short Mania  and Kevin Murphy Undressed to get hold and volume with a messy undone finish. Work through damp hair from roots to ends and blast dry with a blow-dryer, using hands to create movement and texture in the hair.

Step 3: Finish with a light layer of Kerastase Powder Bluff to enhance volume and slept in grit.

Step 4: For more durability spray lightly with Kevin Murphy Session Spray.

Vintage Inspiration With Joseph Gordon Levitt

Fashion magazine Flaunt teamed up with actor Joseph Gordon Levitt for an editorial in their latest issue. We are loving the easy cool he conveys in every photo and his laid back style. Something that immediately caught our attention was the timeless hairstyle Levitt was sporting. The combination of ultra short sides and a fuller top section surely gives a nod to hairstyles of leading men from the past.
