How to get your Vintage Faux Bob

Vintage Faux Bob

In the 1920s, when bobs first came into style, the cut was associated with the controversial flapper movement. Still wanting to be fashionable, less daring ladies wore their hair waved and pinned into head hugging shapes. Today, we know bobs are here to stay, but if you want the look without the commitment, this coif is a beautiful way to fake a shorter style. Get your own flapper inspired look in a few easy steps….
Step: Mist hair with KMS FREE SHAPE Hot Flex Spray for a longer lasting style and thermal protection. Curl in large sections using a mid-sized curling iron. Allow hair to cool and brush through gently to create soft waves.
Step: At the nape, pin hair flat with a row of crisscrossed bobby pins leaving the front sections loose. Wrap the ends up and over creating a small roll and secure into the row of pins.
Step: Sculpt the hair around the temples into defined waves and pin to hold in place. Spray with KMS HAIR STAY Medium Hold Hair Spray to hold and finish.

Chic Short Hair from Michelle Williams

Chic Short Hair From Michelle Williams

Michelle Williams is a Lattouf favorite –– she makes looking cool and beautiful ridiculously effortless! Today we found this picture of her from back in spring, and it reminded us of the wonders of short hair styles. The golden tones give her hue comforting warmth, and the pixie cut is perfect for her strong cheekbones and big wide eyes. Our thought for Monday: more girls should embrace wash and wear, short hair!

Step: Blowdry hair with fingers. Push it around to enhance natural texture.
Step: Apply a 10 cent piece size of KMS Hair Play Paste Up Spray to separate and accentuate texture by raking through hair and pushing into shape.
Step: Take a tiny bit more paste and use it to lightly break up bangs, so they are not too blunt.

Katy Perry Goes Orange for L'Officiel Cover

Katy Perry Goes Orange

Our favorite hair chameleon, Katy Perry, has rocked almost every color in the rainbow by this point. Her latest venture is this bright orange hue, which she showed off on the cover of L’Officiel. We’re assuming that these windswept orange locks aren’t a permanent look for Katy, but they’re fun nonetheless! The copper tone actually works perfectly against Katy’s pale skin; we find ourselves wishing that she would rock this look for real! What do you think of Katy’s orange color?

Step: If hair is dark, you’ll have to prelighten to a blonde color.
Step: Ask your colorist for a coppery orange hue. If you want to avoid looking too orange, like Katy, ask for a lighter shade with more blonde tones.
Step: Use KMS Color Vitality Shampoo and conditioner to preserve shine.

How to get Laurn Conrad's Braided Headband

Lauren Conrad’s Beautiful Braided Headband

LAUREN CONRAD

We can always count on Lauren Conrad for feminine, trendy hairstyles, and this lovely braided headband is no exception. First of all, Lauren’s golden ombre locks are to die for, and this cute headband braid simply adds to the look. It’s simple enough that you can use it as an everyday style, but it looks incredibly chic and elegant. Lauren’s braid looks flawless, and we really hope this summer style will carry over into fall.

Step: Apply KMS Add volume Body Build Detangler to damp hair. Use a comb to create a side part.
Step: Grab a small section of hair from one side of the head and begin loosely braiding it. Once you finish the braid, secure with a clear elastic.
Step: Cross this braided strand over the head to the other side, and pin in place.
Step: Create another braid on the other side of the head, then cross it over so it is an inch or two behind the first braid. Pin in place on the other side of the head.
Step: Use a curling iron to loosely curl a few random strands, then run your fingers through the curls to make them loose and wavy.
Step: Mist with KEVIN MURPHY SESSION SPRAY

J.Lo's Texured High Ponytail

 J. Lo's Textured High Ponytail

We love the versatility of Jennifer Lopez’s locks. Long, thick, and caramel-colored, J. Lo’s hair looks gorgeous when left loose in soft curls, but she can also rock a fierce updo. She recently rocked this messy, textured ponytail, exuding a sexy summer vibe. Dry shampoo is key when creating a similar look, because it adds the perfect amount of texture.

Step: Pulse KMS Hair Play Dry Touh Up through dry hair. Scrunch and tousle hair for body and texture.
Step: Loosely curl hair by wrapping random strands of hair around a curling iron.
Step: Pull hair up into a high ponytail at the crown of the head. Secure with an elastic.
Step: Pull out a small strand of hair from the ponytail and wrap it around the base of the ponytail to cover the elastic. Pin in place.
Step: Reapply KMS Hair Play Dry Touh Up for extra volume and texture.
