Amanda Seyfried's Glamour Waves

For The Holidays, Create Amanda Seyfried’s Take On Veronica Lake’s Wave

Holiday hairstyles are front and center of attention right now; every women and girl is searching for an attention-grabbing, beautifying look. If you wear your hair long, Amanda Seyfried’s modern take on a vintage Hollywood wave could be just the ticket. Reminiscent of the tumbling, peek-a-boo style of 1940s icon, Veronica Lake, the romantic shape is perfect for fancy occasions. To create this look, the important thing is to develop a consistent wave pattern. With a curling iron and product, you can be done in 30 minutes. Read on for detailed step by step instruction…

Step 1: Make a deep side-part and mist whole head liberally with KEVIN.MURPHY FULL AGAIN thickening lotion and Kerastase Forme fatal. A heavy side part enables an asymmetrical face-frame, perfect for putting features on show.

Step 2: Now curl entire head using a 1-to-2 inch barreled curling iron. Get hair as hot as you can without burning. A good tip (to avoid too much heat while getting a great set) is to unravel and do it again –– twice baked! After each curl is made, use a pin-curl clip to pin in place.

Step 3: Mist hair with KEVIN.MURPHY SESSION.SPRAY for hold, shine and texture, and allow hair to cool.

Step 4: Once cool, use the fine teeth of a comb to gently comb out curls. Keep combing till the perfect vintage wave pattern emerges.

Step 5: Tuck the short side of the part behind ear and use a holiday-inspired, sparkly hair clip accessory to hold in place.

Jessie J is Back to her Dark Side!

Back to Black

Jessie J is one celebrity that seems to be able to carry any hair style! In March, she went from having long dark locks straight to the extreme of shaving it all off, then dying it blonde. But of course, this gorgeous singer rocked her new style and it then became her signature look. And the world loved it! But, from her instagram, Jessie J obviously needed a change and went back to her dark hair. Although this beauty clearly has no bad hair days, we prefer her striking blonde hair!

Highlight From the VMAs: Taylor Swift’s Flapper Fantastic Ringlets

Highlight From the VMAs: Taylor Swift’s Flapper Fantastic Ringlets

In the 1920s, Flappers were a new breed of women intent on flouting the rules of acceptable society. Known for being brash, treating sex casually, and dressing provocatively –– they had the temerity to bob their hair –– these fashionable young women set the scene for women’s liberation. Now, with The Great Gatsby remake bringing the Jazz Age back into style, many of springs trends are modern interpretations of the fashions of that time. Always on the pulse, Taylor Swift cut right to it at the VMAs. Her romantic pin-curls give her a faux-bob shape, creating a vintage, retro vibe that swings like a Charleston. With modern hot-tools, anyone with mid-length locks can recreate pin-curls in a few minutes, giving you a memorable style that will be the envy of your friends. Learn how in the style notes below.

Step: Prep hair with KEVIN.MURPHY FULL AGAIN Make a deep side-part. Section hair from the crown to the ears.
Step: Starting from the crown, make half-inch horizontal sections, and sub-divide into three or four vertical sections. If it helps, use pins or clips to clip sections (that you are not working on) out of the way.
Step: Now use a curing iron to create curl in these vertical sections, working inward towards the face. The barrel size of the iron determines the kinds of curls you make. For tight, flapper curls, use a 3/4 inch or one inch curling iron. (Use a bigger iron for softer, less curly, more wavy looks.)
Step: Once a curl is made, use pin-curl clips to pin to head. repeat all around. Once all curls are clipped, mist with KEVIN.MURPHY SESSION.SPRAY and allow to cool (to speed this up, use the cool air button on your blow-dryer).
Step: Once cool, brush out gently with a flat-brush until the curly shape is as you like it (use Taylor’s image as inspiration). Now use pins all around to secure in place. Mist again with SESSION.SPRAY to add extra hold to the finish.

Or if your not talented with a curling wand then book into a your closest Lattouf Hair & Day Spa location for a set and style this will give you the same look but with a longer lasting hold.

Taylor Swift's Sexy Rolling Stone Cover Get her look

Taylor Swifts Smokey eye on Rolling Stone Cover

Taylor Swift

How to get her look and what not to do:
We love them. You only have to google “smokey eye” and you’ll see hundreds of thousands of blog posts and YouTube Vids showing you how to create the look, so obviously you love them too!
It’s easy to create but it’s also very easy to get wrong!! As these two starlet’s prove….erm, must have lost the blending brush!
So we’ll show you how to get the perfect Smokey Eye look in just four easy steps. The colour choice is only limited by your imagination!
But first some valuble tips:
Put your foundation on last! Its a messy business creating a Smokey Eye so better to apply your eye products first, then finish with your foundation application after.
No shadow on the top part of the eye lid. The colour should be all around your eye and not going beyond the eyelid crease, unless you have very heavy lids as seen in the pics below. Resist the urge to highlight the upper lid, you’ll look like Drag Queen! Unless of course you are a Drag Queen, then highlight away!
Blend, blend and blend some more. It’s called smokey because it looks like a puff of smoke, it’s not called “Racoon Eyes” or “Plastic from Binocula Eyes”. Think heavy with soft edges.
This is what it will look like if you don’t blend….
This is what it will look like if you do it right….
Notice her lips are very pale? Remember the golden rule; If the eyes are loud, tell the lips to be quiet.
What you’ll need:
ELES Powder Liner in any colour
ELES Mineral Matte Eye Shadow in any darkish colour, we are using Matte Twig
ELES Lush Mascara in Black
Optional – False Eyelashes
STEP ONE: Eyes should be primed and a light layer of foundation and powder applied to help the Eye Shadow bond to the eye.
STEP TWO: Using the Powder Liner apply a generous, deep line around the entire eye contour then blend with the soft rubber tip at the end of the pencil until you have a nice thick smudgy line.
STEP THREE: Press your chosen Eye Shadow into the line and begin blending out, adding more shadow to get a deeper hue. it should be darker towards the lash line and blending out to lighter on the edges, keep applying and blending until you have the desired effect, something like this…
NOTE: The eye above is heavy lidded in other words, the natural eye crease is very low. If this is the case you may apply the shadow slightly above the crease. If they eyes are not heavy lidded try to stay below the crease with only a soft blending appearing above.
STEP FOUR: Optional – Apply False Eyelashes to the top lashline. Apply several coats of Lush Mascara to the top and bottom lashes.
Voila….The Smokey Eye!
And remember, you don’t have to do it this dark, a lighter colour can be used for a softer effect.
Why do we love it?
The eye whites look whiter and the iris of the eye “pops” with vivid colour….
